Why Tesla Windscreen Replacement Is Different

Tesla windscreens are not like standard vehicle glass. The Model 3 and Model Y have a forward-facing camera housing integrated into the windscreen, and the entire roof is a single glass panel. When the windscreen needs replacing, you need a specialist who understands Tesla's unique glass technology and ADAS requirements.

At AAA Auto Glass, we have fitted windscreens for Tesla owners from as far as Tauranga and Whangarei. We get it right every time because we understand the technology — not just the glass.

Tesla Model 3 Windscreen Replacement

The Model 3 windscreen has a camera housing mounted centrally behind the rear-view mirror. This housing must be precisely transferred to the new glass and aligned to factory specifications. If the camera is even slightly off, the Autopilot and emergency braking systems will not function correctly.

We only use OEM-quality glass that matches Tesla's exact specifications. The glass must have the correct optical clarity, thickness, and acoustic properties to ensure the camera sees the road clearly and the vehicle's noise levels remain as designed.

Tesla Model Y Windscreen Replacement

The Model Y shares the same windscreen design as the Model 3, with the same camera housing and ADAS requirements. We have fitted Model Y windscreens for owners across Auckland and beyond. The process is the same — the replacement screen arrives with the camera mounting bracket already on the glass, we transfer the camera across and set the calibration, and the car then completes it during daylight driving of 50–70 km.

Tesla Roof Glass Replacement

Tesla Model 3 and Model Y have a full glass roof with no traditional sunroof. The entire roof is a single glass panel that extends from the windscreen to the rear of the vehicle. If this roof glass is cracked or damaged, it needs specialist replacement.

We carry OEM-quality Tesla roof glass and have the expertise to fit it correctly. The roof panel is bonded to the vehicle's frame and requires careful removal and replacement to ensure a perfect seal. We test the roof for leaks before we leave.

ADAS Recalibration for Tesla

Tesla's Autopilot system relies on the forward-facing camera mounted on the windscreen. After windscreen replacement, this camera must be recalibrated — and we set the calibration on your Tesla after installing the windscreen. The car then completes the calibration itself during daylight driving of 50–70 km. The calibration is usually covered by your insurance.
